Tattoos For Women – A New Fashion Accessory?

The popularity of tattoos among women is growing at an unprecedented rate. Over the past ten years, the number of women lining up at doors of tattoo studios has rocketed. Tattoos are now a mainstream fashion accessory for women, occupying the same category as shoes and handbags.

However, tattoos haven’t always been popular among women. Fifty years ago, tattoos were almost the exclusive preserve of men. Only ten percent of tattoos belonged to women. And as recently as the 1980’s there was a general belief in society that a women who got tattooed was either a criminal, a lesbian or a whore.

These days, things are completely different. The traditional stereotypes and stigmas that surrounded tattoos have been swept away and women have the confidence to wear their tattoos with pride. 1) Tattoo Placement

Previously, women who wanted a tattoo felt the need to position them on a part of their body where they could be kept well hidden. But these days women are proud of their tattoo designs and as such are placing them in more visible areas.

The stomach and lower back are two of the most popular areas for tattoo placement. This suggests that women want to have the choice of whether or not to display their designs. License Plate Purse – Fashion Bags For Everyone.

I own a junk yard and a mechanic shop, and it has at all times been to my advantage to find as many uses for used car parts as possible. Even though both are profitable businesses, there is substantial overhead, so the smaller amount of stuff I have actually store or throw away, the better that it is for me and my business. Of late, I have discovered a novel idea. Not that I thought of it, actually came from my crafty niece.

She always had the talent to make quite a cottage industry out of bags from torn blue jeans, or interesting bracelets out of scraps of things she finds around that kind of stuff. So it was hardly that surprising when she created a license plate purse out of a custom license plate from some old Corvette. It wasnt until then I had realized what a great idea license plate purses would make.

So thats how it all started, I went into business with my niece. Each morning, the two of us would meet up and make a license plate purse or two. Recently she has also figured out how to make other kinds of license plate hand bags, some of them made out of several plates carefully folded over together to create a seamless whole.

Though I am aware that I wont make much of any money doing this right now we put them up for sale for about thirty bucks per license plate purse, and that too we make only a couple a day but for her the money from the sales are great, and sure she gets to keep what she makes. For me, its just a good excuse for us to spend time together. If I get to make a neat looking license plate purse or two while doing it, so much the better. Her license plate purses are a hit among her friends. In fact it seems like every other license plate purse that she makes is actually a present for a friend.

Ever since we started to work on the whole license plate purse thing, she has taken an interest into what I do, too. At first, she was not so in to cars, but she has always liked working with her hands, so I assumed that she would be a natural. Sure turns out that I was right. The fact is she is every bit as good with a muffler as with a license plate purse. Shortly I’ll start to show her the inside of an engine, and then we will be down to business. Undoubtedly this license plate purse thing has been the source of great things in my life.

School children and teenagers think it is hip to be seen wearing one, and it doesnt make a huge dent in their allowance to buy it. Professional athletes have been seen wearing them at sports events. Even corporate executives in power suits have taken to wearing these Lance Armstrong bracelets.

Made from rubber, it is similar to other cause-related bracelets that have emerged over the past years, such as those for breast cancer and diabetes. How to be Prepared for Your Fashion Model Shoot

The fashion model session – What to pack in your model case

OK, you’re off to a model photo shoot. But, did you remember to pack your bag? Did you put everything you need in it? I hope this article will be helpful to you and start you on the right foot in making sure your model bag is complete.

What do you bring?

What you bring to your model photo session will depend upon whether this is your first shoot for a portfolio or a paying job. Either way, this section will help you to be prepared for whatever reason you’re doing the model session.

First things first – Know what the client wants

If you are shooting for an agent or client, he will tell you what to bring but you still need to carry basics in case of changes in hair, makeup, etc. All the tips listed here are meant to be a guide and a checklist of sorts so you can always add to the list when you feel it’s necessary.

Ready? Let’s get started to create your model “kit”

Below I’m going to list suggestions for your photo shoot mainly so you don’t forget anything the day of the shoot. In fact, I’d like to see your model case prepared before the day of the session so there’s no rush. You may want to copy and print the section below so that you’ll have a guide handy each time you go for a photo shoot.

You’re now standing lifeless in front of your closet – Wardrobe Essentials

Here are the essentials for your wardrobe. As stated above, some of the clothing listed here will be provided if this is a model shoot for a client.

- Casual – blue jeans, sports & knit tops, button up tops, shorts, cutoff blue jeans, etc.
- Business Suit – for a different look
- Sports (exercise, uniforms, shorts, etc.) – If you plan to do some sports modeling
- Lingerie – If you plan to enter the lingerie market
- Swim wear – needs to be a bikini that really flatters you
- Any props like hats, neckties, men’s shirts, jackets, etc.
- G-string & bra in flesh tone color – This is to eliminate lines that show under clothing
- Hose/nylons in an assortment of colors
- Socks in different colors including black and white
- Bring several different bras including at least one push-up and one in flesh tone color
- A robe to wear between changes during the photo session
- Bring a scarf to wear when changing to help keep makeup off client’s and your clothing
- You may also want to pack an iron or steamer for those wrinkles that are bound to show up from the trip.

Accessories – You’ve got to have something to compliment the clothes, right?

Along with each outfit, try to bring accessories which will accent or match the outfit. Keep accessories simple.

- Assortment of necklaces
- Earrings
- Bracelets
- Choker (these are popular at the time of this writing)
- Wristwatch – You normally wouldn’t wear a watch unless you are doing a photo where you will be looking at the time.

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

As with accessories, shoes should match or accent the outfit. But, you can also think outside the box on the subject of footwear. For example; High heels have a totally different look with jeans or swim wear than with an evening dress.

- Dress shoes – Bring several different pairs
- High heels – Also an assortment
- Jogging shoes – white
- Boots or high heel boots
- Sandals

Don’t forget about the hair

Below are some items you’ll need for your hair (or hair removal)

- An assortment of combs and hairbrushes
- A curling iron
- Hair rollers
- Straightener
- A couple of headbands
- Shaving cream and a couple of sharp razors
- Anything else you use for hair care

When coming to the model shoot, I would suggest leaving the hair fairly natural with very little (if any) hairspray so that you, or the MUA, can work with it after you arrive.

Makeup and facial

Even if your shoot involves a make-up artist, you still may want to pack the following …

- Your complete makeup kit along with a mirror
- A moisturizer
- Cottonballs and swabs
- Lip balm
- Vaseline
- A good skin cleanser
- Several different shades of lip color (be sure to bring some solid colors)

Nails, finger that is.

A quick tip about nails. Remember that in photos, your eye will move to vivid colors first, especially red. So, take this into account as to whether you want people viewing your hands or your face.

- Here is a checklist for nail products to take to your photo shoot.
- Your complete manicure kit
- Nail polish with neutral color
- Remover kit for nail polish

A nice manicure will really enhance your model photos, especially images where your hand is near your face in close-ups so pay particular attention to your nails.

This should pretty much cover you for most photo shoots but as stated above, listen to the photographer or client and be sure to bring wardrobe he or she wants.

The competition may be stiff, but if you will be educated and trained in the proper way, you are sure to get an edge in the competitive fashion world.

First of all, you must determine which field you want to specialize in. As enumerated, the three – fashion design, fashion marketing, and fashion merchandising are the top choices as far as the best opportunities in a fashion career is concerned.

Here are some of the basic information about each:

Fashion Design. If you are a fashion designer, you are considered as the artist of the fashion industry. You are expected to be a highly creative individual who has the eye for an array of colors, lines and textures and has a good sense of style.

As easy as it may seem, a fashion designer’s job does not start and end in bringing visions into paper and doing sketches of masterpieces. Based on the final sketch, a designer must still sort through different textures and materials, and then predict how it will fit a fashion model or consumer’s body. Once the material has been chosen, the pattern must be cut from the textile, and finally, sewn together. After numerous considerations, it is only then that the “vision” or final product will be seen.

Fashion Marketing. This is an aspect of fashion that basically operates behind-the-scenes. If you will become a fashion marketer, you will have to keep yourself side by side with the ever changing consumer purchasing habits and fashion trends; come up with advertising campaigns that will attract the attention and appeal to the tastes of specific types of consumers; and mind the various innovations that are introduced to the field every so often.
