The World Of Fashion Design

The world of fashion is one that has the eyes and ears of a vast amount of people; we watch television, read magazines, and stay tuned to see what the rich and famous are wearing from day to day and we follow suit. Fashion can change perceptions, impact an entire retail economy, and influence a generation. Its no wonder that more and more people are interested in joining the world of fashion design.

Fashion design entails the creation and manufacturing of clothing styles. Fashion designers work based on seasons they design, create, and then introduce their line of clothing on the fashion runways. The clothing that is well-received suddenly makes its way to Hollywood where actors and actresses come decked out in the latest fashion to the latest movie premiers. And what happens on that carpet trickles down to the masses making its way to retail outlets all over the country in more affordable forms.

Fashion design can be a fantastic career journey but it requires a vast amount of skill, education, and hard work. Those interested in fashion design should already possess an innate ability to create beautiful design and effectively communicate them on paper. Such creative fashion enthusiasts should be sure to supplement their skill with formalized education. A fashion design school will teach the fundamentals of design, drawing to scale, textiles, fabrics, sewing, and manufacturing. An education such as this can open up many doors in fashion design.

Following a school program or even in conjunction with a school program those pursuing a career in fashion design should be sure to involve themselves in an internship or apprenticeship with a reputable design house. The experience gained in this capacity is unmatched and will begin building your portfolio your most important tool in a fashion design career.

Fashion design can be a wonderful career filled with adventure, creativity, and a chance to influence clothing choices all across the nation and even around the world.

Dealing with Your Teenager and the Latest Fashion Trends

Are you the parent of a teenager? If you are, you likely already know that many teens want to look their best, at least fashion wise. For that reason, many teens keep up on the latest fashion tends and use them. While this is okay in some aspects, it can result in your teenager wearing baggy pants showing their boxers or revealing shirts that show off too much cleavage. While these do seem to be popular fashion trends, do you really want your child displaying them? If not, you may be wondering what you should do.

When it comes to your teenager and fashion trends that you may not necessarily approve of, your first thought may be to lay down the law. As a parent, this is your right to do, but did you know that you may actually end up causing more damage? Do you remember what it was like being a teenager? If you were like most teenagers, there was a good chance that the last thing you wanted was to be told how to dress by your parents and the same is likely so for your own teen. That is why you may want to think about taking a different approach.

One of the many instances where you should speak to your child about their fashions is if it may end up causing them some harm. As previously mentioned, many of the latest fashion trends for women and for girls are low cut shirts and low rise pants. This often ends up leaving a good portion of the body exposed. In todays society, you always need to be on the lookout for sexual predators. While your teenager may not necessarily be interested in someone, someone may actually end up getting that type feeling from them. This could put your teenager in a weird and possibly dangerous situation. If that is the case, you may want to take the time to explain that, as it may sink in better than if you were just to say change your clothes; you cant wear that.

It is also important that both you and your teenager remember that fashion trends regularly change. It is not uncommon for a fashion trend to only last a few months. If you are not happy with the current fashion trends, but your teenagers are, you may want to encourage them to explore other options. There are a number of fashion magazines and online fashion websites that have a large number of fashion trends and information on those trends. Not all fashion trends require the wearing of skimpy, clothing. For that reason, you may want to explore other options. If your teenager is a girl, it could actually turn into a neat mother daughter bonding experience between the two of you.

Something else that you may not necessarily think about, but should, is if your child goes to high school. Many high schools have dress codes and these dress codes often prohibit the wearing of revealing clothing. While not all schools actively enforce their dress codes, many out there do. Like with being told not wear certain clothes by their parents, many teenagers may feel angered being told by school officials. For that reason, you may want to take action before anything serious happens that could seriously jeopardize your child and their school records. It is not uncommon to hear of instances where children are suspended from school due to not following the schools dress code.

In short, teenagers and fashion are something that just seems to click together. While it is important for your teenager to fit in with others and be popular at school, they do not necessarily have to be wearing the hottest, clothes or fashion accessories to do so. They may not necessarily understand it at the time, but as a parent it is your job to help them and keep them safe.

Indoor Tanning Tips And Trends

The process where skin pigmentation is darkened due to exposure to the ultraviolet light rays is known as “Tanning”. The tanning process of skin is generally of two types. One is immediate tanning and the other is delayed tanning. The immediate tanning is caused by the Ultraviolet A (UVA) radiation of sunlight which appears just a short time after the sunbathing and usually lasts only a few hours or days. The delayed tanning is the response to the Ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation of sunlight and usually appears 2-3 days after the sunbathing and lasts longer with the natural renewal of skin. The intensity of the tanning varies as it depends upon the type of skin.

Indoor Tanning Process and Devices

Indoor tanning has become very popular and just like regular tanning should include indoor tanning lotion. A clamshell like tanning bed is used as the tanning salon equipment in most of the tanning bed salons. Customers have to lie down on a plexiglass surface where the tanning bed lamps from above and below reach the customers body. The latest high tech tanning beds are called stand up tanning beds and don’t require a person to lay down on plexiglass.

Most of the older tanning devices used the light sources that emitted short wave Ultraviolet B rays. These UVB radiation actually caused a burning sensation, hence the need for tanning bed lotions. The salon owners began using the tanning beds that emit mostly long wave Ultraviolet A rays from the light sources as the UVB radiation has many harmful effects. The UVA rays cause less burning than the UVB rays.

The harmful side effects of Tanning

The indoor tanning is very much responsible for the damages of our skin because of the emitting of ultraviolet rays. When the skin produces an additional pigment to protect against burning from ultraviolet rays at that time the tanning occurs. Eye injury, skin rashes and even skin cancer might develop due to the overexposure to the UV rays.

The ultra violet radiations from the sun and tanning bed lamps are most widely known to be responsible for skin cancer. UV rays have been known to even damage the immune system causing premature aging or wrinkling of the skin.

Now a days public health experts and medical teams are warning people from the dangers of the ultraviolet rays of the sun and tanning bed lamps. The UVB ray is associated with sunburn and is considered a deeper penetrating ray. According to some scientists there may be an association between the UVA radiation and the malignant melanoma which is a very serious type of skin cancer of which case a health care provider may be needed.

Indoor tanning lotion sales have been skyrocketing but with continual warnings from government health officials we could begin to see a trend to the more natural skin color look. The advancement of tanning bed lotions and tanning salon equipment in recent years has made indoor tanning a regular activity for many. You might want to consider the long term effects compared to the short term gains before attempting continual tanning for yourself.

Many people use indoor tanning to better prepare their body for a vacation to a favorite hot spot. This is actually quite smart as it better prepares your body for the increased exposure and can avoid a sun burn that may ruin a perfectly good holiday.

How to Find the Perfect Fashion School

Are you interested in having a career in fashion? If you are, there is a good chance that you may be interested in attending fashion school. While it is more than possible to make money as a fashion designer, a fashion seller, and a fashion consultant without having a degree, you will find that having one may improve your chances of running a successful business.

As nice as it is to know that a degree from a fashion school or at least a certificate of completion may improve your chances of having a successful business, you may be wondering exactly why that is. If you are interested in being a professional fashion designer, you may already know that thousands have tired to do so and failed. Unfortunately, many of those individuals ended up making many simple mistakes. By getting a degree and the training that comes along with it, you are less likely to make some of these common mistakes and you may learn many other helpful tips and tricks. The same can be said for running a fashion store or working as a fashion consultant.

Now you that you know the importance of attending fashion school, you may be wondering what it the best fashion school to attend. When it comes to finding the best fashion school for you to attend, there are a number of important factors that you will want to take into consideration. One of those factors is the type of school you would like to attend. Fashion schools and fashion training courses come in a number of different formats. For instance, there are traditional two and four year colleges and universities where you can walk away with a degree. On the other hand, there are training schools that provide you with a certificate of completion, which is, in a way, like a degree.

Location is another factor that should be taken into consideration. If you are preparing to graduate from high school, you may find it easier to find a fashion school to attend, as you may be more willing to relocate than someone who has roots already established or a family. If you want to stay local, you should still have a number of fashion schools or at least fashion training courses to choose from. In all honesty, the larger the city that you live in or around, the better your chances are of having more options.

Perhaps, the easiest way to go about examining all of your options, in terms of fashion schools, is by using the internet. When using the internet, you may want to think about performing a standard internet search with a phrase like fashion school. If you would like to stay in a particular area, you may want to incorporate that city or town into your internet search, as it will provide you with more tailored results. You should thoroughly examine the websites of all fashion schools that you come across to see what type of training is offered and how much that training costs.

You may also want to ask those that you know for recommendations or any information that they may have on fashion schools. Although the person that you are speaking to may not necessarily have attended a fashion school, they may know of someone who has had. Colleges and training schools are often something that is regularly discussed among friends and acquaintances; therefore, you never know what information you can get through word of mouth. In addition, if you are still a high school student, you may want to think about speaking with your guidance counselor for assistance.

As a reminder, attending fashion school is something that is optional, especially if you are interested in starting your own business. Despite being optional, you may still want to take the time to examine fashion schools. You may actually be surprised with how much you can learn by attending one.
